Géni-Métal was founded in 1995 by Serge Y. Tremblay, Engineer. The company mainly specializes in welding inspection, welding engineering and structural engineering. Géni-Métal also offers quality assurance of work at the manufacturers or on job sites according to standards, plans and specifications as well as the structural verification of steel, aluminum and wood constructions. The laboratory is certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) under Canadian Standard CSA W178.1 (Certification of Welding Inspection Bodies). Our staffs, made up of engineers, inspectors and technicians, are highly qualified for the work to be done. Géni-Métal is distinguished by its speed of execution and by the knowledge and experience of its personnel.

Located in the industrial park of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, we collaborate with welding companies throughout Quebec, who wish to acquire CSA certification W47.1, Division 2, or who require visual, magnetic, ultrasonic or penetrant inspections. We also work with engineering firms who wish to obtain an expertise in metallurgy or who must mandate an independent laboratory to control the quality of the manufacturing of the various subcontractors. This includes audits of welding shops as well as in painting, galvanizing or metallizing shops. Our extensive knowledge of the different standards ensures good quality monitoring during projects.

We also offer structural engineering services for companies wishing to have their drawings approved by an engineer member of the “Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec”. Our knowledge, combined with softwares, allows us to check the resistance of structures according to the applicable standards. We can also perform structural inspections of lifting machines such as scissor-lifts, telehandlers, mobile cranes, tower cranes and much more. We are usually available two days notice, often the next day and sometimes the same day; which is very much appreciated by our customers.
